I am a sociologist, writer, and educator with expertise in structural inequalities and human centered research. I am skilled at educating various audiences on pressing social issues as well as illuminating complex social problems and conceptualizing and facilitating potential solutions. I am highly productive and have a demonstrated ability to switch gears among multiple tasks without supervision. I work best among empathetic, creative thinkers who are motivated to find meaningful, active ways to make the world better, safer, and more accessible to all.
My book, published by New York University Press, “Growing Up Queer: Kids and the Remaking of LGBTQ Identity,” is an ethnography of an LGBTQ youth drop-in center. The analysis is an examination of how young people embody, express, and embrace queerness.
